Lesson / WY-A-1
Point of Control (POC), also called VPOC when emphasizing volume, answers a tightly defined question: which bin has the greatest cumulative volume for the chosen sample, sessions, and binning? Find the maximum V_j, then define the set of maximizing indices: J_POC={j | V_j=max_k(V_k)}. It uses total volume per bin without distinguishing aggressive side or whether traders still hold positions. POC marks the sample's most concentrated trading location, useful for observing whether a return restores two-way trading or produces rapid departure. Most volume does not itself mean dominant demand or guaranteed support/resistance.
