From Pattern Names to Market Analysis
First Principles
Sam Rivera
Lesson / WY-01-01
Pattern recognition asks, “What does this movement resemble?” Market analysis also asks where it occurs, what changes in supply and demand it reflects, and what subsequent behavior would confirm or invalidate the interpretation. A break below a range followed by a recovery can resemble a Spring. However, if there was no clear preceding range, or price quickly breaks down again and continues trading below it, the bullish case lacks support.
